Adventure 6 - Home At Last

Well, the ride back home was anything except on time. We reached Chicago 15 hours late. A freight train broke down at a rail switch in the middle of nowhere Utah. Every train was blocked and created a great traffic jam. The jackrabbits enjoyed the entertainment watching us get moving. That must have been the most excitement at that switch in 300 years. After several hours waiting on a switch engine to clear the mess we got underway. By the end of the ride, we were running out of food, drinks, and snacks. Amtrak put us up at the Hyatt for the day until we could catch the next train home. That was nice but expensive. Breakfast for five cost $118.75, while it was nice I have had better for less. The train to Washington managed to get 2.5 hours late. Therefore, my butt was tired of sitting. My sleep is all caught up with a little bit to spare.

Wild Mom is anxious to get home, see her friends, and tell them of her great adventures in the Wild West. We will leave tomorrow with me flying back home on Saturday night.

Lady is ready to tackle her work backlog and to check out the kids.

#1 was his old self. Seeing him for only a few minutes was great. I am proud of him and how well he is making it on his own.

#2 is still looking for a job.

Starr managed to rearrange the front end of her car. At first I thought it was the same aggressive tree that attacked her rear, that is the van’s rear. However, it was not. Therefore, after a totaled car, a few bumps and bruises she is back in business however a little bit slower.

Princess managed to get herself hurt too. Anyone think, “Gotta be like sister?” Hers is a rotator cuff injury from not throwing the fire hose too well. Looks like she missed the part about hose throwing in the book or slept through the Davis’s demonstration. Maybe that explains why she always misses the target. Anyways we are looking at about 6 weeks of therapy to get it fixed. Her little summer jaunt to Boy Scout camp could be in jeopardy if therapy doesn’t fix her up. Booger is still his usual self.

More to come as “Life Turns in the Davis House”.
