Chuckles II

A man visiting a graveyard saw a tombstone that read: “Here lies John Smith, a lawyer and an honest man.” “How about that!” he exclaimed. “They’ve got three people buried in one grave.”

Chuckle's

A penguin is driving through a small desert town when his car suddenly experiences some problems. He limps the car to the town's mechanic and explains the problem to him before heading to the shop's waiting area. The mechanic tells him it may be awhile so he may want to take a walk and explore the area. After a little time hitting the sidewalk, the penguin notices an ice cream parlor in the town's square and decides that, being a penguin in the desert, he's hot and could use something cool. So he heads into the parlor and orders a big bowl of vanilla ice cream to enjoy, which he does to the point of making a huge mess all over his face. Upon finishing the treat, he decides it's time to head back toward the shop to see if his car is fixed and ready to go. As he approaches the shop, the mechanic comes walking out to meet him and says 'it looks like you blew a seal'. The penguin quickly cleans off his face and replies 'no no I just had ice cream!'.

A collection of ideas

Another day in my life. No one in our house has swine flu yet. Knock on wood. Wild Mom and Lady are in Pigeon Forge doing craft stuff, watching leaves change and chatting up a storm. So far they are having fun and staying quite busy. Wonder what will happen when the credit cards max out. They may wind up sitting on a bench along the highway and watching the leaves change color. Bowling is doing well, especially on the kids league. The Adult league is a bit harder to hang on to the top spot. But the run in First Place has been fun. The two bible studies that that I have been facilitator for are drawing to a close. I will be glad to get back to a single night and rest a bit. Not much else is going on except adjusting to the everyday changes and roadblocks. I would expect to see many changes come up over the next month or so. I am afraid that some of them will be quite painful and a shock back to reality. Work still continues to be a pain in the Kazoo. Then again, why would I expect it to be any different now. But I will stay there (with conditions) until the job market changes and then "Hasta La Vista Baby".

#1 is back at work and #2 is searching ... somewhat. Peanut had her surgery and is doing fine considering the pain she is in. Her school is going great and graduation day grows closer. AJ grows and is spending a few days with friends since Mom can't lift him. maybe he will return all trained. With Lady gone this weekend, Lew and Lil Princess spent time with their parents. Princess works all the time and the occasional text message lets me know she is alive. Star is gallivanting about the land ... I think Chicago is next but I have not been officially told. A birdie did.

Go old Washington Redskins. Could a team be more dysfunctional? Don't blame the Coaches ... blame the players that don't play to the level they are paid to play at. There are a lot of good players sitting at home that would love the chance to play and especially get paid like the current squad of losers are paid. Where is the $100 Million dollar man? That would have paid for a lot of real players that love the game and feel it is an honor to put the uniform on. This current team thinks the world owes them a win. Well, Detroit, Kansas City, and Panthers earned their wins. The Titans must be ecstatic they off-loaded their liability to the 'Skins. Don't place 100% of the blame on the coach ... at least he deserves a team with a desire to win. Then blame him when he doesn't win. Right now, in my mind the players are the quitters.

Never Fails ... the Strong Prey on the Weak

WARNING TO ALL MEN: Police are warning all men to be on alert and stay cautious this Halloween when offered a drink from any women. Many female sexual predators are using a date rape drug called BEER to entrap men into a scam called a RELATIONSHIP or worse MARRIAGE.

Rocky Mountain High

Well, it is Monday and the normal routine returns. The Kansas City conference was great and I learned a lot and even managed to formulate a few ideas to follow-up on. My plane ride (Air Tran and US Airways) out there and back were uneventful not like the boon doggles the others had to tolerate. I even found the Cinnabun stand and had a whole roll. That was the first one I have had in probably a year. Can I go back and get another? Youth Bowling is going great. We have managed to hold onto 1st place that last two weeks. This was in spite of bowling against the two strongest teams on the league. Sunday Night, despite going 5-2, we slipped into 2nd place. While this is nice, I don't expect this to last too much longer. Not that we will collapse but the other teams start really rolling.

Wild Mom is getting excited about her Pigeon Forge trip. I think it is this weekend when they start. Lady will be packing and getting ready for the adventure. #1 and #2 are still waiting for a job to plop into their laps. Ok, who just said "Fat Chance" in the background? Peanut is still getting smarter as she continues to excel in school. We are very proud of her. Princess works and works and works. The kids were all active this weekend. Lew celebrated his 6th Birthday and managed to corral several webkins. Lil Princess talks more and more. This action must be in-bred into her, because all females do it or are capable of it. AJ is a dynamo of activity. If it is there ... he must pick it up.

Work is the same. That is one constant and pain in the butt thing about my life.

Well, except for the Redskins who always lose and blame everything else for the problem.

Who knew?

Did you know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately-without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional pain relievers?

Did you know that Colgate Toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns?

Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 tablespoon horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil for instant relief for aching muscles.

Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly-even though the product was never advertised for this use.

Honey remedy for skin blemishes ... cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.

Listerine therapy for toenail fungus: Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine Mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

Easy eyeglass protection ... to prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear Nail Polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them.

Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer... if menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly.

Smart splinter remover: Just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue.

Hunt's Tomato Paste boil cure ... cover the boil with Hunt's Tomato Paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head.

Balm for broken blisters ... to disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine, a powerful antiseptic.

Vinegar to heal bruises ... soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process.

Quaker Oats for fast pain relief ... it's not for breakfast any more! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Another Fall Month

Well, I am still here though I haven't been as faithful to posting like I should be. Our weekend in Virginia Beach was great and we had a lot of fun on the boardwalk. The Neptune festival was going on and the crowds were large. But we managed to walk almost 2 laps of the Boardwalk. Dinner was at Ruddees and it was all it was said to be. This Wednesday, I head to Kansas City for a leadership Institute with several other members from our church. I am actually looking forward to this event. Maybe they will get through this thick skull of mind and teach me something. Think so? Not! Bowling is in full swing and so far we have been successful this season. Both teams are in first place. How, I am not sure but we are doing it so far.

Wild Mom is doing fine and settling in for the winter. However, she is looking forward to her's and Lady's weekend in Pigeon Forge later this month. Lady is busy sewing Brian's blanket and doing her usual stuff she does. She keeps busy that is for sure. #1 and #2 are now in between jobs. The contract expired and there was no renewal. So we are back into the searching mode ... and that sucks. Peanut is doing great in school and starting to plan post graduate things. The three little ones are growing like weeds. Lew will be 6 this week. What happened to that little boy? Lil Princess is growing too but she is so dainty and sweet I wonder how many hearts she will break before all is said and done. She sat there Saturday night asking me to brush her hair. It is so fine care must be taken not to break or pull it out. AJ is starting to put words together and make us laugh. He is very active and loves to climb. When all three are there my head moves like it is on a swivel. Princess works and works and works .... all work and no play means she will be all dull before long. I couldn't even get her to go to ChincoTeague or Williamsburg for the weekend. Oh well, Cats in the Cradle.
